The Library Club is a group of students who love reading and the library, and who plan events and activities to encourage a love of reading in our school and community. We have an annual Field Trip event that promotes literacy at both the high school and elementary level.
During the field trip, Ortho high school students work in groups of two and each pair is assigned to a different classroom. They read 2 picture books with a common theme to the elementary students- preschool, ETK, TK, Kinder, 1st - 5th grades. They then conduct a short activity or lesson (20-30min) to go along with the book. The whole experience takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the group.
